History, Mission & Resources

History

SeaCare Health Services began in 1992 as the result of an effort by local physicians and human service providers to increase access to affordable health care for uninsured children. This idea of developing a coordinated system to screen and refer indigent uninsured patients through a pro bono volunteer physician network in six Seacoast towns received funding from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 1992. Further, in 1994 SeaCare Health Services was awarded additional Robert Wood Johnson recognition with a four year "Reach Out" grant to expand services to adults and children throughout 21 towns in Rockingham County. In 1995, the American Academy of Pediatrics awarded SeaCare a five-year Healthy Tomorrows Grant to provide child health education to families enrolled in the program.

Mission

SeaCare Health Services is founded on the belief that our community should provide high quality equitable health care for all. Such health care encompasses those services needed to achieve complete physical, mental and social well-being. SeaCare Health Services is devoted to ensuring that all underserved members of the community have access to optimal health care.
